Software Development Manager, IT Healthcare - Faxing & Notifications

Chewy is hiring a Software Development Manager for our IT Healthcare, Faxing & Notifications team in Boston, MA. This is a high-profile position that will drive key initiatives in our Pet Health organization. As part of a dynamic and critical technology team, this role offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth in the leading online pet retailer in the US.
What You'll Do:
? Lead and develop a hardworking team of 4-7 software engineers responsible for developing Chewy's fax and notification systems for Pet Health communications.
? Collaborate with Engineering Management peers to establish and promote standard methodologies in software design, development, testing, and production deployment.
? Partner with product owners to handle and prioritize backlogs that align with the needs of multiple teams within Chewy's Software organization.
? Investigate the technical details of our AWS-hosted environment, offering both low-level tactical mentorship and strategic high-level design input. Cultivate a culture of operational excellence.
? Build and maintain positive relationships across all organizational levels and functional teams.
? Partner with the recruiting team to expand your team and mentor the professional growth of current Team Members.
? Proactively identify, prioritize, and lead team goals within the broader context of Chewy's business objectives.
? Drive team success through measurable goals, ensuring timely delivery of projects and maintaining high system reliability (e.g., 99.9% uptime).
What You'll Need:
? Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Systems Engineering or a similar math or engineering subject area.
? Demonstrated history of implementing and leading significant software development projects
? 5+ years of proven experience in Software Development as a software engineer or architect
? 2+ years of experience in Engineering Management
? Validated delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology
? Experience with crafting, building and deploying scalable, highly available systems
? Strong communication skills with the ability to work multi-functionally across both technical and business audiences
Bonus:
? E-commerce or Pet Health experience
? Relevant Java ecosystem like Spring Boot based applications
? Proven experience with cloud & orchestration technologies (AWS Services, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
