This is an IATSE 839 position covered by a collective bargaining agreement. We?re looking for experienced 2D Character Designers who have a rich imagination, strong sense of graphic sensibility, and solid volumetric drawing abilities. An understanding of color, shape, and anatomy are also key skills needed to breathe life into our characters. Primary Responsibilities: Design characters based on the director?s vision and implement all executive notes Assist with creating character turns and mouth charts Create special poses and expression sheets Execute detailed character technical drawings to expedite collaboration with other departments in the pipeline Collaborate with and address notes from head of department in completion of all assignments Work in partnership with the Design Coordinator on the team to ensure alignment on assignments. Actively participate in daily check-ins to make sure projects are staying on track and being completed on schedule. Job Requirements: Demonstrate ability to proactively engage and collaborate with the art department Demonstrate ability to maintain quality and continuity of designs within the show Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks and manage time well; providing all necessary team members with updates on assignment completion Demonstrate strong sense of graphic appeal Exhibit active listening by attending and contributing to Art Department Meetings Read scripts and be familiar with story and jokes Reference storyboard for final designs to make sure storyboard needs are met Education/Experience: Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience 2+ years of experience as a character designer in episodic series television At least 4 years of studio professional experience preferred High level knowledge of animal anatomy, as well as portfolio samples highlighting skill in drawing animals Required Skills/Competencies: Strong proficiency in Photoshop Proficiency working digitally on a Cintiq Familiarity with Photoshop Must be able to work within a fast paced series production schedule Excellent organizational and project management skills Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment Strong attention to detail is critical Ability to quickly adapt to different drawing styles Portfolios Should Include: To apply for this position you must include a portfolio and resume.
