Senior Construction Manager, Prime Air

Description Application deadline: Dec 9, 2025 Amazon Prime Air is revolutionizing delivery through autonomous drone technology, aiming to deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less. Our breakthrough technologies, including advanced BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) capabilities and sophisticated detect-and-avoid systems, have earned FAA approvals and are setting new standards in autonomous delivery. With operations already successful in multiple locations and expansion planned, we're seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead site development and contractor coordination for new drone delivery locations. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of innovative infrastructure, operational readiness, and strategic deployment to help scale Prime Air's revolutionary delivery system by enabling rapid launch of new facilities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in managing complex construction projects with accelerated timelines across multiple time zones. You'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site preparation, facility construction, and infrastructure installation required to launch drone operations at new locations. You are an effective written and verbal communicator and can navigate competing priorities across construction teams, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders while maintaining high visibility to leadership and ensuring sites are launch-ready on schedule. Key job responsibilities Direct interface with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases. Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. Manage multiple projects and effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors Conduct constructibility reviews of electrical and mechanical designs associated with the projects. Manage construction documents including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing. Ensure construction project schedule adherence Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management. Understanding of municipalities and permit processes, and establish effective engagement This role requires travel, up to 60% of the time Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf. Basic Qualifications 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience Relevant experience managing general contractors and vendors, including RFP processes, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking in construction project execution Ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines Ability to drive schedule adherence Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree Professional certification (PE, LEED, or CCM) with knowledge of building codes (BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA) Strong technical documentation and communication skills, using data to support recommendations Experience managing construction of electrical switch gear, transformers, and conduit Clear written and verbal communication skills Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
