About the position Responsibilities • Review physician orders for accuracy and applicability to MRI protocols. • Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review contraindications for exams. • Discuss findings with the physicist and radiologist as applicable. • Document changes in the electronic health record and ensure nursing resources are scheduled accordingly. • Interview patients, conduct screenings, and obtain medical histories relevant to procedures. • Explain procedures to patients and instruct them on requirements for diagnostic images. • Assist physicians in performing procedures and ensure proper completion of images and records. • Utilize technical knowledge to perform MRI procedures accurately and in a timely manner. • Administer intravenous injections of contrast material and observe patients for adverse reactions. • Ensure patient safety during MRI procedures and assist with patient positioning. • Perform quality control testing and report issues with MRI systems to appropriate personnel. • Maintain various data sets and perform data calculations and analyses following QC standards. • Participate in accreditation imaging requirements and perform post-processing on MRI systems. • Respond to inquiries and communicate workflow issues with oncoming staff. • Participate in training for new hires and students, ensuring adherence to standards. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to prioritize exams and minimize wait times. • Adhere to hospital policies and maintain patient confidentiality. Requirements • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (MR) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) certification required. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by the first day of employment. • Two years of MRI experience preferred.
