Remote* College Level Tutor for Applied Mathematics, Structural and Mechanical Engineering

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled college-level tutor with extensive experience in Applied Math (Differential Equations) as well as Structural and Mechanical Engineering.
Key Areas of Focus / Class Descriptions :
1) Applied Mathematics -_ Differential Equations_. Explicit solution techniques for first order differential equations and higher order linear differential equations.
2) Structural Engineering - Mechanics 3 Strength of Materials . Analysis of stresses and strains in machines and structural members. Fundamental study of the behavior and response of statically determinate and indeterminate structural members subjected to axial, torsional, flexural, shear, and combined stresses. Introduction to the stability of columns.
3) Mechanical Engineering - Intro to Materials Science + Lab. Physical basis of the electrical, mechanical, optical, and thermal behavior of solids. Relations between micro/atomic structures, processing, and properties.
Preferred Qualifications: ? Proven experience teaching/tutoring advanced applied mathematics and structural engineering and mechanical engineering courses at the college level. ? A strong academic background in mathematics or engineering (e.g., a degree in Math, Engineering, or a related field). ? Patience and ability to connect with students who may need extra time or alternative explanations to fully grasp complex concepts. ? A flexible teaching style that can adapt to the student?s needs, particularly given that the student has previously struggled in these areas and is looking for a new approach. ? Ability to break down complex topics into digestible segments, ensuring the student understands both theoretical principles and practical applications. ? Experience working with students who may find these topics challenging and the ability to adapt explanations to the student?s learning style.
Other Requirements: ? Clear and effective communication skills. ? Availability to meet for regular tutoring sessions ? Ability to assist with both theoretical understanding and practical applications (particularly in lab work) ? *NOTE** This position will offer approximately 3-6 hours per week of support for a college student in the Pacific Time Zone. Applicants must be able to offer some standing availability within the following windows :
Mondays after 11am Pacific Time
Tuesdays after 11am Pacific Time
Thursdays after 11am Pacific Time
Fridays between 11am - 3:30pm Pacific Time
Occasional weekends as needed
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
