Job Overview As a Part-time School Bus Driver, you will play a critical role in providing safe and efficient transportation for our students on assigned routes. You will be responsible for operating a school bus in compliance with all Federal and State DOT requirements, maintaining student order and discipline, and performing pre and post-trip vehicle inspections. You will also be required to communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and administrators, and maintain accurate records and logs as required. Key Responsibilities: Operate a school bus in compliance with all Federal and State DOT requirements Maintain student order and discipline in accordance with departmental and district guidelines and policies Perform pre and post-trip vehicle inspections as set forth in the PA Motor Vehicle Code Follow assigned routes and notify the Department Router and Fleet Manager of any deviations, changes, or unsafe conditions Maintain a complete and legible route book and complete monthly mileage logs with accuracy Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and administrators Maintain accurate records and logs as required, including time sheets and vehicle repair requests Attend all in-service training meetings as required by the district and/or department Abide by all district and departmental policies and regulations as written Essential Qualifications: To be considered for this role, you must have: A High School Diploma or Equivalent A valid Pennsylvania CDL Driver's license with School Bus and Air Brake endorsement (or be willing to obtain) A minimum of three years of accident/violation-free driving history No record of DUI or felony while operating a motor vehicle A clear criminal record as set forth in PA Act 34 or Act 151 The ability to pass an annual school bus driver's physical as set forth in the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code Physical ability to render aid to students in the event of an accident or emergency The ability to read and speak English Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience as a school bus driver Knowledge of Federal and State DOT regulations Experience working with students with special needs Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies: To be successful in this role, you must possess: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance Ability to maintain accurate records and logs Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, carrying, and pushing Career Growth Opportunities: At North Penn School District, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
