About the Role The Extended Learning Enrichment Instructor will play a vital role in designing and delivering project-based, standards-aligned enrichment activities for students in grades K-5. As an Enrichment Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters academic achievement, creativity, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and at specified times Plan and implement interactive, project-based learning activities that engage students in multiple modalities of learning and interest Submit plans for review and feedback to ensure alignment with district goals and objectives Create a safe and supportive learning environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and activities Consistently monitor and adjust instruction based on feedback to better engage and meet the needs of students Guide the work of non-certified staff in the classroom, including youth development workers, paraprofessionals, and college mentors Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Enrichment and Extended Learning Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred Strong interest, training, and expertise in enrichment content Prior experience working with urban youth required Demonstrated ability to build relationships with youth and demonstrate cultural competence Demonstrated interest and expertise in enrichment content Student-first mentality and growth mindset Ability to develop related enrichment skills in students with a strong emphasis on skills related to social-emotional learning Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Bilingual applicants (Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply Experience working in after-school programs or similar settings Knowledge of project-based learning and standards-aligned instruction Familiarity with social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community partners Strong organizational and time management skills Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Holyoke Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our staff.
