Distinguished Engineer - AI/ML RAN Planning

About the position Responsibilities • Partnering with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to define and ensure technology alignment for all aspects of RAN Automation, including identifying and vetting AI-driven use cases for Energy Savings, Coverage, Capacity, and Quality Optimization. • Defining the rApp requirements and deployment in the bolthires Cloud Platform, including ensuring the platform can support AI/ML workloads and models deployed within the RAN and rApps. • Collaborating with System Performance, Maintenance Engineering, and Operational Owners to determine the business needs. • Developing methods and procedures, and a plan for operational readiness that governs the development of the network from Lab onboarding to Production. • Driving continuous improvement, leveraging the best in the Industry Automation platforms and applications. • Communicating program status and setting clear direction concerning process, standards, and roles/responsibilities for all involved project teams. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience. • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. • Experience with AI/ML models and their application within the RAN and rApps context. • Knowledge of mobile networks, especially on 3GPP, O-RAN for 4G and 5G standards in RAN and their interfaces. Nice-to-haves • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields. • Experience in evaluating and implementing AI solutions within the RAN infrastructure. • Experience in negotiating and championing RAN Software Feature Roadmaps with Network Infrastructure vendors like Ericsson and Samsung. • Experience with Cloud Deployment, including bolthires Cloud Platform. • In-depth technical knowledge and expertise of RAN engineering concepts and principles, including RF theory, propagation modeling, link budget, FCC/FAA regulations. • Experience in wireless standard organizations, including 3GPP, ORAN NGMN, etc. • Good presentation skills catering to all levels of management with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a manner that is understood by the audience. • Ability to prioritize efforts and tasks in a large-volume.
